Jessica Isbell, EdS, MS, LPC, NCC, Registered Play Therapist, RYT
Jessica Isbell is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her Educational Specialist and Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville State University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Tyler. Jessica is an adjunct faculty member at JSU where she teaches Introduction to Play Therapy to counseling graduate students.
Jessica has presented at national and regional conferences (and soon-to-be internationally) on parenting, child abuse/neglect, LGBTQ issues, women’s health issues, mindfulness, yoga, substance use, trauma, suicide, play therapy, couples, and self-care. Jessica has a chapter in the upcoming book (in publication) Using Superheroes and Villians in Counseling and Play Therapy: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals.
Jessica is a member of the American Counseling Association, Alabama Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Association for Play Therapy, Alabama Association for Play Therapy, Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology, and a 2016 NBCC Foundation Rural Scholar. She served as Chi Sigma Iota Chi Theta Chapter President and President-elect. She was presented the Chi Sigma Iota Certificate of Recognition at the 2016 ALCA Conference. Jessica was named JSU’s 2018 Counselor Education EdS Student of the Year. She is currently enrolled in the international Association for Play Therapy’s 2019 Leadership Academy. She serves on the Board of Directors for Alabama Association for Play Therapy as Ethics and Bylaws Chair. Jessica is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).
