Life can be challenging at times. Counseling can help when you're wanting to make a change or working towards new goals. Clients often come to me after they have struggled to make those changes on their own or after they haven't seen enough progress in prior experiences with counseling. I work alongside my clients to help them overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. From ages two and up, counseling can assist with life's challenges and transitions. Counseling came help empower and provide the skills to make positive and meaningful life changes.
Children communicate through play. Play therapy approaches have been researched and shown to be evidenced-based for a variety issues. Children tend to be very cooperative in play therapy and tend to think they are "just playing," when we are actually using researched and practice-based techniques and interventions. As a Registered Play Therapist, I utilize play-based and expressive therapies with all ages when appropriate. I have found this is beneficial when working with families, children, adults, and couples.
Relationships and marriages can hit rough patches. Children, life changes, infidelity, and other situations can cause problems within a relationship. If you have found that you seem stuck in the same cycle and arguments in your relationship, it may be time to seek additional help. I utilize the Gottman Method and have completed Gottman Level 1 and Level 2 trainings. I use this research-based approach in sessions along with EFT and attachment-based approaches. Note: As most insurances do not cover couples counseling, this is private pay only. An exemption to this would be EAP sessions, which are typically 30 minutes instead of 75.
